We offer two service models: For the "Do-It-Yourself" feel free to use our digital advice platform to design your own investment strategy and engage us if, and whenever you like. Our traditional Wealth Management services are available for those whose needs may fall within either of the categories below.

Your retirement is as secure as your retirement income planning. During retirement you need to recreate your paycheck, which is something that we have over 20+ years experience with.

Our investment objective is simply to reduce your current investment risk, reduce the expenses that you may be paying and improve the performance within your portfolio. Therefore, if you are working with another investment firm, after we understand what you would like to accomplish, our first step is to prepare a portfolio review & comparative investment analysis for your review. Next, we will build a model portfolio based on your investment goals and income needs.

Insurance - Many people don’t realize that life insurance can be structured to accomplish a lot more than merely leaving children and family members with a death benefit payout. Life insurance can be used to provide tax deferred growth of cash, including tax free withdrawals for your future! Whether you would like to increase the value of your estate by using the cash after you have taken the mandatory Required Minimum Distribution from your IRA and/or 401(K), or achieve a higher return on cash that is idle, earning minimum interest rates, you will be impressed with what you can achieve with a well-structured insurance policy.

Annuities – It is important to understand where annuities make the most sense as an investment vehicle. Here are some of the questions that you should ask yourself: Do I want investment growth potential with or without the exposure of market risk? At some point do I, or will I ever need a guaranteed lifetime income payout that I cannot outlive? Do I have additional funds either in savings, a 401(K) Plan, an IRA or a taxable brokerage account? Do you own a variable annuity and would like to reduce your fees & expenses? If you answer "yes" to any of the questions above, then let’s have a conversation to see if there is a fixed equity index annuity that is suitable for you.

We will prepare a proposal for RFPs for Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution Plans, including investment management consulting. There is a myriad of factors which makes this type of institutional consulting need complex – regulatory, record keeping and administration, fiduciary compliance and investment selection & pricing.

Estate planning is a critical part of retirement planning. You want to make sure that your loved ones receive the assets you have accumulated during your lifetime. We are happy to partner with your CPA and Attorney to ensure that the affairs of your estate are in order.

He has also earned the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC ®) designation from the College for Financial Planning in Denver, CO.

Martin makes regular media appearances, having been a guest on News Channel 8, NBC Universal Channel 4, WTOP Radio News & Business and CBS Radio. He has also been invited to teach a series of financial management educational seminars for the NBA Development League. Martin A. Smith earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Legal Communications, from Howard University in 1992. He later joined A.G. Edwards & Sons as a Financial Advisor where he was promoted to the position of Assistant Branch Manager. Martin splits his time between the Washington, DC and Atlanta Metro area where he is actively hiring and training new financial advisors, as well as recruiting new investment firms to join the Wealthcare Financial Group, Inc. family of firms. He and his wife, Walida have seven children.

John R. Funderburk

At an early age, John knew that his purpose in life was to serve others. His passion for service inspired him to serve in the United States Navy. Another passion that John had as early as eight year old was studying the business section of the newspaper, which led to his intrigue in finance, i.e. "stocks and bonds." As his knowledge of the stock market and economy grew, so did his interest in educating others about personal finance. Since "service" was already a core value of John's, as career in the financial services industry was a logical and natural fit for him. He relishes being able to pursue his interests in security and technical analysis, economics and portfolio construction for his clients, while also providing much needed financial literacy support others. John is active in his local church, he is a father of five, he has two adult daughters, a son and two beautiful adopted daughters. He lives in Frederick, M aryland.

Sean earned his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Finance from Howard University in 1987. He has spent over 30 years in commercial banking, with an emphasis in consumer and small business lending. Sean advocates for greater financial education within social and faith-based organizations in the metro DC area, and he teaches and works with a variety of non-profit organizations to promote financial literacy.

Over the course of his career, Sean has seen the powerful impact financial literacy has in elevating individuals and families from poverty to prosperity. He is passionate about helping people learn to effectively handle money, credit, debt and risk. He has worked diligently to help create empowered communities while building individuals’ financial dignity.
